The Macs we work on
Kensington Computer Repairs is run by two technicians, Alan Dingwall and Krishna Kolamkar. We are Apple, ACMT and data recovery certified, and between us we handle everything from a Mac clogged with malware to component-level logic board repair.
Each model has its own page, with the faults we see most on that machine:

Screen replacements, virus removal, RAM upgrades and Wi-Fi faults are often finished the same day or the next. Whatever the problem, one of us will be working on your Mac within 24 hours. We keep you posted on progress and tell you when it will be ready to collect or send back.
If the drive has failed and there are files on it you need, say so before anyone tries anything else. Our Mac data recovery service starts with a free consultation, and if the data can’t be recovered there is no charge.
Does my screen need repairing or replacing?
A faulty display does not automatically mean a new screen. If the panel is cracked or broken there is no way round it, and it has to be replaced. Other symptoms often have a cheaper cause.
A blank screen, or a very dim and shadowy picture, often points to the screen cable or to the inverter that powers the backlight. In that case the screen itself is still fine. Vertical lines down the display usually come from the graphics chip, not the screen.
We test before we quote, so you pay for the part that has actually failed. Screen replacements are normally done at our premises within 24 hours. Ring us with the model of your Mac and we can give you a price for the screen there and then.

What Mac repairs cost
These are guide prices. The estimate for your own Mac is free and carries no obligation, and the price we quote is the price you pay.

The T2 is Apple’s security chip. It ties the storage and other parts to the logic board, which makes board repairs on those Macs more involved. The rest of our rates are on the prices page, and NHS staff and key workers get 20% off.
No fix, no fee. If we can’t repair your Mac, you don’t pay. Every repair we complete is guaranteed, and the warranty covers the replacement parts.
Getting your Mac to us
Bring it to 68A North End Road, or let us collect it from your home or office at a time that suits you and return it afterwards. Collection is free and there is no call-out charge. Many people find that safer and easier than carrying the Mac in themselves.
You can also post your Mac to us, have a technician visit you, or ask for a remote diagnosis over the internet when the fault is in the software. A diagnosis normally takes no more than 24 hours.

How long will my Mac repair take?
Most Mac repairs are done within 24 hours. Screen replacements, virus removal, RAM upgrades and Wi-Fi faults are often finished the same day or the next. We tell you how the repair is going and when the machine will be ready.
Do you charge to look at my Mac?
No. Estimates are free and carry no obligation, there is no call-out charge, and the price we quote is the price you pay. If we can’t fix the fault, there is no fee.
My Mac’s screen has gone black. Is the screen finished?
Not necessarily. A blank or very dim screen is often caused by a faulty screen cable or inverter, and vertical lines usually come from the graphics chip. We test first, and only replace the screen if the panel itself has failed.
Can you collect my Mac from home or work?
Yes. We collect and return across central and south London free of charge, at a time that suits you. You can also drop in at 68A North End Road, post the Mac to us, or ask for a technician to visit.
Can you get my files back if the drive has failed?
Often, yes. We are data recovery certified, the initial consultation is free, and you get a firm quote before any work starts. If the data cannot be recovered, there is no charge.
