The PS4 faults we see most
A damaged HDMI port
This is the job we do more than any other on the PlayStation 4. The HDMI port is a known weak point on the console, and it does not take much of a knock on the cable to bend the pins or loosen the socket. We replace the port, and where the fault lies in the HDMI chip behind it, we repair or replace that too.
The blinking blue light
When a healthy PS4 starts up, the light on the side of the console blinks blue for a moment and then turns white. On a faulty one the light keeps blinking blue and never turns white, and then the console switches itself off.
That means the console is failing to send a video signal to your television. It is a hardware fault, and we fix it by replacing the failed parts.
PlayStation Network problems
Sony has released a long run of system software updates for the PS4. They added features, and some brought new problems with them. Consoles that will not connect or sign in to PlayStation Network (PSN) are a regular sight on our bench.
Other PS4 problems we repair
- Disc drive overhaul and repair
- Freezing during games or menus
- Overheating
- Faulty lights on the console
- Won’t turn on
- Error codes WV-33899-2, CE-33991-5 and NW-31201-7
- Red and blue "light of death"
- HDMI port and HDMI chip repair or replacement
- Blu-ray discs not reading
- Noisy disc drive
- Discs stuck or not ejecting
If you are seeing an error code, note it down before you switch off and include it when you contact us. It tells us where to start looking.
What every PS4 repair includes
Whatever we are fixing, your console also gets a free clean, a service and a thorough test before it goes back. Dust is behind a lot of noise and overheating, and the test picks up other faults that are on their way.
We keep a range of PS4 parts in stock, so most repairs turn round quickly, and Blu-ray drive repairs are done the same day. We fit genuine new parts, and every repair comes with a warranty that covers them.
We fix it or you don’t pay. If we can’t cure the fault, or the console is beyond repair, there is no charge.
What it costs
Our guide price for an overheating repair is £65 + VAT. Video issues are £79 + VAT to £95 + VAT, and WiFi or networking issues are £65 + VAT to £95 + VAT. You get a free estimate before we start, and the price quoted is the price charged. Other rates are on the prices page.
Booking your repair
Tell us as much as you can about the fault: what the console does, what the light does, any error code, and whether it happened suddenly or crept up. The more detail we have, the faster we can get back to you with an answer.
You can drop the PS4 in at North End Road, or we will collect it from you and return it once it is repaired. Collection and return are free. If you live further out, post it to us.
We repair Xbox One and Nintendo consoles as well. See Xbox One HDMI port repair, or the full list on our games console repair page.
Questions people ask
Why does my PS4 blink blue and then turn off?
The light should blink blue briefly and then turn white. If it keeps blinking blue and the console shuts down, the PS4 is not sending a video signal to your television. It is a hardware fault that we repair with new parts.
How long does a PS4 repair take?
Generally a day. We keep a range of PS4 parts in stock, and Blu-ray drive repairs are done the same day.
What if my PS4 can’t be repaired?
Then you pay nothing. If we can’t cure the problem, or the console turns out to be beyond repair, we don’t charge.
Do you clean the console as part of the repair?
Yes. Every PS4 repair includes a free clean, service and thorough test, so other potential problems are caught before the console goes back to you.
Is there a warranty on PS4 repairs?
Yes. We give a warranty with every repair, and it covers the replacement parts we fit.
